Welcome to the Leafs Talk Forever weekly blog, where I will look at the week that was and the week ahead, as well as the news from the team. This blog will coincide with the Leafs Talk Forever Podcast which releases to all podcast streaming services every Friday by noon EST.

News from the Team:

- Borje Salming passes away from a battle with ALS

- Mitch Marner extends his point streak to 17 games, 1 away from tying Sittler and Olczyk for the franchise record (18)

- Rielly is out for 4-6 weeks and gets placed on LTIR for a minimum of 10 games or 24 days.

- Mac Hollowell and Victor Mete get called up with mass injuries to D-core.

- Toronto trades minor-league forward Curtis Douglas to Arizona for right-handed defenceman Connor Timmins.

- Giordano plays top-line minutes on the back end.

- Sandin and Liljegren both get evaluated roles due to injury-plagued D-core.

- Samsonov is set to return to the lineup in the next week.

The Week that was:

- Wednesday, November 23rd, 2022: Leafs vs Devils

- Maple Leafs win 2-1 to snap the New Jersey Devils’ 14- game winning streak in the early choice for game of the year.

- Pontus Holmberg nets his first NHL goal.

- Tavares stays consistent and scores again.

- Devils had 3 goals back.

o 2 for goaltender interference

o 1 for kicking the puck

- Devils’ fans throw beer, pop, and food onto the ice, forcing the Maple Leafs to leave the ice.

- Maple Leafs fight off the Devils’ late-game push and come on top.

- Murray ends the game stopping 34/35 for a .971 SV%

- Friday, November 25th, 2022: Leafs vs Wild

- Borje Salming gets a moment of silence at the start of the game.

- Maple Leafs wear Salming patches on their jersey.

- Maple Leafs and Wild meet on Thanksgiving Thursday in the USA.

- Maple Leafs top the Wild 4-3.

- Zach Aston-Reese beats Fleury from a weird angle down low.

- Järnkrok takes advantage of playing alongside Marner and Tavares, and scores.

- Marner scored to extend the point streak.

- Nylander scores a special goal to pass Salming for 2nd in scoring by a Swedish player in Maple Leaf history.

- More goaltending controversy after Murray’s net gets knocked off 3 times.

- Murray holds down the fort and earns himself a .893 SV% after stopping 25/28

- Saturday, November 26th, 2022: Leafs vs Penguins

- Maple Leafs go to Pittsburgh for 3rd and final meeting.

- Marner extends his point streak less than a minute into the game with a beautiful goal.

- Matthews scores again, and collects 2 assists,

- Maple Leafs control most of the game and snap the penguins winning streak.

- Nylander scores again.

- Holmberg gets 2nd of the year.

- Giordano and Holl play fantastically against the Penguins’ top players.

- Källgren gets a redemption win over Pittsburgh, stopping 25/26 for a .962 SV%

- Monday, November 28th, 2022: Leafs vs Red Wings

- Leafs and Red Wings face off in an Original 6 matchup.

- Matthews finds the back of the net again, giving him 11 goals, and 15 assists for 26 points on the year.

- Mitch Marner scores again, giving him5 goals and 23 assists in 17 game point streak.

- Sandin snaps one from the point and scores.

- Nylander continues his dominating season, with another goal.

- Maple Leafs chase Ville Husso after 4 goals.

- Alex Nedeljkovic comes into the game in relief of Husso.

- Detroit tries for a late comeback, but Toronto tightens up and shuts the door.

- Maple Leafs complete the perfect road trip.

The Week Ahead:

The Maple Leafs hope to continue how they have been playing as of late when they take on the following three opponents in the next week:

- Wednesday, December 1st, 2022:

San Jose comes to try and repeat the outcome from their 1st meeting

- Saturday, December 3rd, 2022: Leafs and Lightning square off in a redemption game for the Maple Leafs. * Marner can break the record for longest point streak*

- Tuesday, December 6th, 2022: Toronto rolls out to Dallas and tries to pattern their lead on the teams below them in the Atlantic.
