Maple Leafs Make Roster Moves

The Toronto Maples Leafs announced today that they have made some cuts to their roster, none of the players are names that truly shocked anyone but the rosters need to be submitted in the coming days so they needed to make some moves.

The following players have been assigned to the Toronto Marlies:

  • Nick Abruzzese (F)

  • Semyon Der-Arguchinstev (F)

  • Dylan Ferguson (G)

  • Erik Källgren (G)

  • Mikko Kokkonen (D)

  • Bobby McMann (F)

  • Marshall Rifai (D)

  • Alex Steeves (F)

All of the players listed above will report to the Toronto Marlies of the AHL and start the 2022-23 season with the team.

The following players have been placed on waivers for the purpose of an AHL assignment:

  • Joey Anderson (F)

  • Mac Hollowell (D)

Both of these two players will need to clear waivers before being sent to the AHL to play with the Toronto Marlies, of course, they have the chance of getting claimed and going elsewhere.

As mentioned before there is still a bit of time for the Maple Leafs to decide who is going to stay with the NHL club and who isn't, and with many players being waiver eligible it makes the decision harder. Coach Keefe had stated after tonight's pre-season game against the Detroit Red Wings that "the Leafs will use every minute available before deciding on final roster cuts". This just speaks to the tough choices that have to be made based on the openings on the roster and the depth at camp.

We will keep you updated when more roster cuts become available.
